Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District have endorsed Dapo Abiodun as their consensus candidate for the 2027 Senate election.

The endorsement was announced on Monday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ijebu-Ode, drawing a broad cross-section of party leaders and grassroots representatives.

Attendees included members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, current and former local government chairmen, as well as past and serving lawmakers at both state and national levels. Councillors from all wards in the district, alongside women and youth leaders, were also present.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, former Ogun East senator Lekan Mustapha said the decision reflected confidence in Abiodun’s ability to represent the district effectively at the National Assembly.

He added that party leaders would formally convey the endorsement to the governor and initiate steps to secure his nomination.

“We will constitute a delegation to deliver this message to the governor, affirming his adoption as our consensus candidate,” Mustapha said.

Also addressing the gathering, Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, described the endorsement as unanimous and significant, citing the governor’s record in governance and party unity.

Similarly, House of Representatives member Femi Ogunbanwo commended the administration’s achievements, noting that Abiodun’s leadership had promoted stability and development across the state.

Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Afolabi Odulate, also urged the governor to accept the nomination, expressing optimism that he would further advance Ogun East’s interests at the national level.
