Syrian Suspect Accused of Plotting Attack on German Soldiers Arrested
German authorities have arrested a 27-year-old Syrian man accused of planning a machete attack on soldiers in Bavaria. Prosecutors in Munich confirmed that the suspect, believed to have Islamist ties, intended to target soldiers in the town of Hof, located in the northeastern part of the state.
The man had already acquired the weapons intended for the attack, according to the prosecutors. He was apprehended by police in the Hof region, and following a judge’s order, an arrest warrant was issued, leading to his detention on Friday.
