The Police Command in Delta has arrested three women suspected of dealing in illicit drugs in the state.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday in Warri.
Edafe said the suspects were arrested on Thursday by operatives of the Effurun Area Command of the Nigeria Police.
He said the arrests followed credible intelligence on their activities within Ogbomoro and Ugolo communities near Warri metropolis.
“On May 7, operatives of the Area Command, Effurun, carried out a covert operation and arrested the three female suspects.
“A search warrant was executed at their hideout on River Road where operatives recovered 21 bottles of CSC Codeine and two canisters of nitrous oxide popularly known as laughing gas,” Edafe said.
He said that other items recovered included two packs of suspected psychoactive chewing gum branded as “Highness Gum”.
He added that 640 grammes of suspected Canadian Loud were also recovered, concealed in different bags and containers.
He said preliminary investigations had revealed the alleged major supplier behind the drug network, adding that the suspect was currently at large.
He said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and other members of the syndicate.
