Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has thrown his full weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection ambition, describing the campaign as a personal mission tied to the future development of the state and the nation.
Ododo’s declaration came on the heels of Tinubu’s sweeping victory at the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a development the governor said reflected growing national confidence in the president’s leadership and reform agenda.
In a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, the governor said Tinubu’s administration had demonstrated uncommon commitment to Kogi through landmark projects and strategic interventions capable of transforming the state’s economy.
“I see Mr President’s reelection as a personal project to unlock the enormous potential of Kogi,” Ododo was quoted as saying.
According to the governor, Tinubu’s approvals for an airport, a Free Trade Zone, an Agricultural Processing Zone and other infrastructure initiatives have positioned Kogi for accelerated economic growth and industrial expansion.
Ododo said the state’s support for Tinubu goes beyond politics, describing it as both an expression of gratitude and a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future.
“For us in Kogi, the reelection of Mr President is a reward for his love for the state and for the greatness of our nation,” he said, adding that Tinubu’s economic reforms, though difficult, were laying the foundation for long-term prosperity.
The governor praised the president for pursuing bold policy decisions despite prevailing economic challenges, noting that history often favours leaders willing to take tough decisions in the interest of national stability and growth.
He also commended Tinubu for submitting himself to the democratic process despite being the national leader of the APC, saying the gesture had further strengthened his appeal among Nigerians.
Ododo assured the president of the total backing of the Kogi Government and its people ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming the state’s commitment to progressive governance, economic transformation and national unity.
With the endorsement, Kogi joins a growing number of states aligning early with Tinubu’s expected reelection campaign, underscoring the intensifying political momentum ahead of 2027.
