Lagos Arrests Over 15 Suspects for Allegedly Reselling Used Disposable Plates, Plastics to Food Vendors

Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps have arrested more than 15 suspected environmental offenders along the Jibowu railway corridor in Lagos State for alleged illegal waste recycling activities.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly collected used disposable plastics and plates from refuse bins and resold them to food vendors operating in the area.

“Earlier today, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) apprehended over 15 suspected environmental offenders around the Jibowu railway corridor for allegedly collecting and reselling used disposable plastics and plates recovered from refuse bins to food vendors,” the statement said.

The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to face further investigation and possible prosecution as authorities intensify efforts to curb environmental violations and safeguard public health across the state.
