Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected logistics suppliers linked to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during a routine stop-and-search operation in Borno State.

Military sources disclosed that the suspects were intercepted at about 5:00 p.m. on June 19 at a Brigade checkpoint mounted by troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison.

The suspects were identified as Mohammed Bukar, also known as “Dege,” 35, and his apprentice, Iliyasu Abdullahi, 26. Both are indigenes of Kamuya village in Biu Local Government Area of the state.

According to the sources, the arrest followed credible intelligence indicating that the suspects were involved in supplying logistics materials to terrorist groups operating in the North-East.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended while conveying items in a cyan-coloured Volkswagen vehicle with registration number FGF-357-AG.

Items recovered from them included Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and other relief materials suspected to be destined for terrorist enclaves.

Military authorities said preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were actively involved in supplying logistics support to terrorist elements.

The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

Security officials reaffirmed ongoing efforts to disrupt supply chains sustaining terrorist operations across the theatre.
