Israeli Intelligence Foils Hezbollah Bomb Plot Targeting Former Security Official

Israel’s domestic intelligence agency, Shin Bet, has announced that it successfully foiled an assassination attempt planned by the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah. The target was a former senior Israeli security official, and the attack was set to occur in the coming days.

According to a statement from Shin Bet, the plot involved an explosive device equipped with a remote detonator, camera, and mobile phone, enabling Hezbollah operatives to trigger the bomb from Lebanon. This advanced setup highlighted the militia’s efforts to strike Israeli targets from afar.

Shin Bet also accused Hezbollah of being behind a failed attack in a Tel Aviv park in September last year. Tensions between the two groups have been high, particularly after an Israeli airstrike in July killed a top Hezbollah commander, Fuad Shukr, in Beirut. Hezbollah had vowed retaliation following the commander’s death.
