INEC Distributes Sensitive Materials for Edo Governorship Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive materials to all 18 local government areas in preparation for the upcoming Edo governorship election scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The distribution, which took place on Thursday at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) premises in Benin, was overseen by representatives from various political parties, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), and security agencies to ensure transparency.
Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Onuoha Anugbum, confirmed that the distribution is part of INEC’s efforts to guarantee a smooth and hitch-free election process. “We are dispatching the sensitive materials today, and we anticipate seamless conduct of the governorship election on Saturday,” Anugbum stated.
He assured the public that all materials would reach the local government INEC offices by the end of Thursday. From there, the materials will be transferred to the Registration Area Centres (RAC) on Friday to ensure timely readiness for the election.
The sensitive materials were transported in commercial buses to the various local government areas under security escort to maintain the integrity of the election process.
