Janet Jackson Sparks Controversy Over Kamala Harris’s Racial Identity

Music icon Janet Jackson has stirred controversy after questioning Vice President Kamala Harris’s racial identity, suggesting Harris might not be fully Black, a claim echoing former President Donald Trump’s past remarks.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Jackson weighed in on the upcoming election and Harris’s potential to make history as the first Black woman in the White House. During the interview, Jackson suggested that Harris is Indian rather than Black, similar to claims made by Trump during the National Association of Black Journalists Annual Convention in July.

When the interviewer clarified that Harris is both Black and Indian, Jackson insisted, saying, “Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.” However, Harris has always maintained that she identifies as Black, with her father of Jamaican-American descent and her mother of Indian descent.

Jackson also shared her concerns about the upcoming election, expressing doubt about a peaceful transition of power, regardless of the outcome, and hinted at potential unrest in the country.
