South Korean Man Arrested 16 Years After Burying Girlfriend in Cement

A South Korean man has confessed to m*rdering his girlfriend and concealing her body in cement, 16 years after she was first reported missing.

The suspect, in his 50s, admitted to striking the woman with a blunt object during a heated argument in his apartment located in the southern city of Geoje. He then placed her de@d body into a suitcase, which he hid beneath bricks and cement on his apartment balcony.

The gruesome discovery was made in August 2024, when a maintenance worker, while drilling, stumbled upon the suitcase containing the body. According to local reports, fingerprint analysis confirmed the victim’s identity as the woman reported missing years ago.

An autopsy revealed that the victim had d!ed from blunt force trauma to the head. Authorities identified the man, referred to as Mr. A, who was not residing in the apartment at the time of the discovery but was quickly apprehended by police.

Mr. A told investigators that he had lived with the woman for approximately five years before the fatal argument in October 2008. After the incident, he buried her body inside the suitcase, sealing it under a layer of bricks and cement on a secluded third-floor balcony that could only be accessed from a bedroom.

Police noted that the suspect continued to reside in the apartment for another eight years before his arrest on unrelated drug charges in 2016. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to close the cold case.
