The French Embassy has partnered with the Nigerian International Film and TV Summit (NIFS) to support the development of Nigeria’s film and television industries.
Announcing this collaboration at a recent media briefing in Lagos, the Consul General of France in Lagos, Mr. Laurent Favier, revealed that the partnership will involve the Embassy sponsoring a Nigerian delegation of about 20 companies, with dedicated stands, at the Nigerian Pavilion at Cannes.
The partnership with NIFS, an organization committed to advancing the film and television sectors in Nigeria and across Africa, aims to facilitate collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation in the industry.
As part of this initiative, the delegation will participate in MIPCOM, one of the world’s largest entertainment content markets, which attracts over 11,000 delegates, 3,500 buyers, and representatives from more than 100 countries, with over 320 stands. MIPCOM offers a range of high-end conferences, including sessions on Connected TV, Streamers Talk, and the MIP Global FAST & AVOD Summit, along with a networking lounge and a “Tech Demo zone.”
Over four days, participants will engage in networking and knowledge-sharing activities, aiming to elevate Nigerian content on the global stage. Industry professionals, TV catalog right holders, and stakeholders will come together to explore opportunities and address challenges within the sector.
Mr. Favier highlighted the Embassy’s continued support, mentioning that after sponsoring Nigerian Animation Studios at the Animation Film International Market in Annecy for the past three years, the Embassy will now provide Nigerian industry professionals with a platform at MIPCOM. This initiative reaffirms the commitment to showcasing and promoting African stories that resonate globally.
