Kai Havertz continued his impressive form as Arsenal defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in a commanding Champions League group-stage win at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

Arsenal, needing a strong performance after a 1-1 draw against Atalanta in their opening match, showcased their intent early. German forward Havertz headed in the first goal after 20 minutes, marking his fifth strike of the season and giving Mikel Arteta’s side a crucial lead against last year’s semi-finalists.

Fifteen minutes later, Bukayo Saka’s free kick found the back of the net, doubling Arsenal’s advantage and putting them firmly in control. Despite PSG’s efforts, including hitting the woodwork twice, they were unable to break through the determined Gunners’ defense.

The victory elevated Arsenal into the top eight of the 36-team league phase. They will host Shakhtar Donetsk next after the international break, while PSG aims to regroup as they prepare to face PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal’s confidence was evident from the outset, as they nearly scored from a long clearance by David Raya that Gabriel Martinelli attempted to capitalize on. Havertz’s well-timed header, assisted by Leandro Trossard’s accurate cross, set the tone for the match.

PSG’s struggle extended their four-year streak of failing to keep a clean sheet in away Champions League games, now standing at 20 matches. The Parisian side’s woes were compounded by Luis Enrique’s decision to exclude Ousmane Dembele from the squad due to disciplinary issues, which hindered their second-half comeback aspirations.
