German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser voiced her dismay on Wednesday following reports of celebrations in Germany over Iran’s missile attack on Israel.

Faeser expressed her sadness and anger at scenes of jubilation during a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Berlin on Tuesday evening. Similar demonstrations also erupted spontaneously in the small western city of Bonn.

She condemned the attack, calling the situation in the Middle East “extremely dangerous” and emphasized that Iran’s actions were inexcusable.

In consultation with Germany’s security authorities, Faeser highlighted concerns over the heightened threat posed by Islamist, anti-Semitic, and anti-Israeli activities. She warned of growing emotionalization and radicalization within the Islamist community in Germany.

Faeser reiterated that supporting terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah is illegal in Germany, stressing that propaganda for these groups would face consistent legal action.

She pledged to take firm measures against any public or online pro-Hamas or pro-Hezbollah statements and confirmed that efforts were underway to swiftly remove Islamist propaganda from the internet.
