Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has spoken publicly for the first time since the passing of his wife, Patience Eno, who died on September 26, 2024, after a brief illness. In a heartfelt broadcast, Governor Eno shared new details about his late wife and expressed his commitment to honoring her legacy.
Remembering his wife of 38 years, Governor Eno described Patience as “everything a man could ever wish for in a virtuous woman,” emphasizing her roles as his prayer partner, counsellor, and best critic. He reflected on their life together, marked by love, service, and devotion to the people of Akwa Ibom.
Governor Eno vowed to continue and expand Patience’s pet projects, including The Golden Initiative for All, a program she championed during her lifetime. “We will pursue everything she held dear while she was with us,” he promised.
Reassuring the people of Akwa Ibom, Governor Eno affirmed that the state’s governance would continue without interruption, maintaining focus on serving the public. “This is what Kemi (the Yoruba word for Patience) always prayed for,” he said.
He also expressed deep gratitude on behalf of his family for the overwhelming support and prayers from the people of Akwa Ibom and across Nigeria during this difficult time.
