Armed bandits have abducted the district head of Kanya village, Alhaji Isah Daya, and seven others in a violent attack in the Danko/Wasagu local government area of Kebbi State.
The raid, which occurred on Saturday, left one person dead and three others injured, who are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident, identifying the deceased as Sherrif Alhaji Almu.
He stated that a combined security team has launched a manhunt to rescue the abducted individuals and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the region. Just days earlier, bandits killed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman of Suru local government and carried out further attacks in Matseri village, Bunza LGA, resulting in additional casualties and abductions.
SP Abubakar added that the Kebbi state government is providing necessary logistics to combat the growing threat of banditry in the area, particularly in Kebbi South and the Zuru Emirate.
