Algeria has commenced the repatriation of its citizens from Lebanon due to rising military tensions between Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad announced on Friday that 306 Algerians were evacuated from Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport to Cairo on two specially arranged flights.
Air Algerie, the national airline, will facilitate their return to Algeria from Cairo. This marks the second repatriation effort in recent months, following a similar operation in August that saw 125 Algerian nationals successfully brought home.
The ministry confirmed that additional measures would be implemented if further evacuations are needed.
