A new database reveals that over 5,700 minors in the U.S. received gender-affirming surgeries between 2019 and 2023.

According to reports by Fox News and the New York Post on October 9, the database, developed by advocacy group Do No Harm, tracks treatments for gender dysphoria such as puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgeries.

The tool, titled “Does My Hospital Transition Kids?” was launched earlier in the week and details the number of minors who received gender-affirming care during the four-year period, totaling 13,994.

The data reveals that 5,747 minors underwent surgical procedures, including mastectomies and genital reassignment surgeries, while 8,579 received puberty blockers or hormone therapy. Insurance claims for these treatments, covering nearly 14,000 minors, totaled $119 million, with California alone accounting for more than $28 million.

The report also highlights regional differences, with California leading the numbers in surgeries, followed by Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Do No Harm Chairman Stanley Goldfarb stressed that the data might be underreported, aiming to provide transparency for policymakers and the public.

Chloe Cole, an activist who detransitioned after receiving gender-affirming treatment as a minor, expressed concern over the medical practices, calling the treatments “unproven medical experiments.”
