Spain’s Supreme Court has upheld a €1,080 fine against Alejandro Colomar, a man who entered a police station in Valencia fully naked and refused repeated requests from officers to put on clothes.
The court’s decision, issued on October 3, confirms the penalty imposed for his “disobedience” in disrupting the station’s operations.
The incident occurred on August 20, 2020, when Colomar arrived at the station to file a complaint, carrying clothes in his backpack but choosing not to wear them.
While public nudity has been legal in Spain since 1988, individuals can be fined if their nudity causes public disturbance or discomfort, as in Colomar’s case.
Despite arguing that he had the right to be naked, Colomar was arrested after refusing to comply with the police’s requests.
His appeal to overturn the fine was dismissed, with the Supreme Court ruling that the police acted appropriately to preserve public order.
Colomar, who has faced previous fines for public nudity, made headlines in September 2022 when he attempted to enter a court in Valencia wearing only boots for a trial related to his public nudity.
