Group awards Akume, Bago, others as outstanding public servants

A group, the Christian Youth Movement (CYM) for Tinubu/Shettima 2023, has initiated public service outstanding performance award to encourage hard work in public service.

The National Coordinator of the group, Mr Adeleke Olorunwa, disclosed this at the maiden edition of the award in Abuja held on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the nominees for the 2024 Citizens Choice Award had distinguished themselves in their various positions.

He said that the nominees were assisting President Bola Tinubu to take Nigeria to an enviable height among comity of nations.

“We have gathered here to acknowledge the tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and selfless services of individuals who have gone above and beyond to serve our nation.

“To our eventual awardees, your exceptional work has not gone unnoticed. Your leadership, innovation and dedication have made significant impacts on our communities and inspired others to follow in your footsteps.

“As public servants, you embody the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability. Your work is the backbone of our government, and your commitment to excellence is what drives the renewed hope Agenda of All Progressive Congress (APC) and Mr President.

“Without you, the teeming youth of this nation would have been in total disarray. To our nominees, your hard work and dedication are valued. Your contributions are vital to the functioning of our government’’, he said.

According to him, the ceremony is a reminder that public service is not just a job, but a calling. It requires sacrifice, perseverance, and a deep passion for the greater good our our dear country,” Olorunwa stressed.

He reminded the awardees that the honour was not a call to slumber but to awake them to fly for greater responsibilities.

According to him, as a body of youth with reach across the country, CYM is committed to assisting the government to let the grassroots feel and understand the efforts of the government.

The National Public Relations Officer of CYM, Mr Odiari-Arinze Jude, urged Nigerians to see governance beyond religion sentiment.

“Remember prior to the 2023 general election especially during the campaign, religious issue of Muslim/Muslim ticket became a heated debate.

“We are not interested in religion or personal believe; we are only in rendering or getting the dividend of democracy.

“This is the season of planting, we will soon reap the harvest of this administration in no distant time and Nigerians will smile for it, ” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the awards were in different categories such as most active male youth in government which went to the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi-Tunji Ojo.

The most active female youth in government went to Mrs Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Community Engagement.

The award for the best performing youth in MDAs went to Mr Charles Odi, Director-General, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Agency of Nigeria) (SMEDAN).

Gov, Mohammmed Bago of Niger received the award as governor with the best best youth-oriented programmes.

The best senator was given to Sen. Fatai Buhari, (Oyo North); the best male House of Representatives member was Hon. Kayode Laguda of Surulere Federal Constituency, while Tony Elumelu Foundation was best employer of labour.

Special recognition award also went to Mr George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
