The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno Council, has thanked Gov. Babagana Zulum for appointing its member, Dauda Iliya, as Special Adviser on Media.
A statement by the Secretary of the chapel, Ismail Alfa, on Saturday, described the choice of Iliya as “a well-thought decision.”
He said Iliya, who was the State Correspondent, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Borno Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has what it takes to deliver in his new job as spokesman of the governor.
“The visionary leadership of Comrade Iliya, while steering the affairs of the NUJ Borno State Council, has been an inspiration to journalists, and we are confident that he will replicate it and excel as Special Adviser on Media,” Alfa said.
He assured the governor and the newly appointed spokesman of continued support and cooperation of all members of the chapel.
While urging Iliya to view his appointment as a trust and challenge, the secretary said the chapel would also continue to keep its doors open for support and advice.
This, according to him, is with a view to sustaining the cordial relationship between the government and the media in the state.
“As one of us, we believe Comrade Dauda Iliya has all it takes to impact positively and deliver on his mandate,” Alfa said.
