Angolan President João Lourenço held talks on Saturday with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President Félix Tshisekedi and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, focusing on the ongoing security crisis in eastern DRC.
The discussions centered on updates related to the Luanda process and the next steps towards achieving a sustainable peace solution in the conflict-affected region.
At a ministerial meeting in Luanda on October 12, Angola facilitated an agreement between the DRC and Rwanda on neutralizing the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR). A detailed implementation plan is being developed and will be reviewed at the next ministerial session.
Delegations from the DRC, Rwanda, and Angola led the talks, emphasizing respect for the August 4 ceasefire agreement.
