American rapper A$AP Rocky is poised to purchase EFL Club Tranmere Rovers, according to reports.
The 36-year-old artist, currently in a relationship with pop superstar Rihanna, is part of an investment group led by celebrity lawyer Joe Tacopina. Tacopina, known for his previous role as Donald Trump’s legal representative, has been negotiating with the League Two club for over six months, aiming for an 80% stake valued at £15 million.
The takeover is pending regulatory approval from the English Football League (EFL), with Rocky expected to attend matches at Prenton Park once the deal is finalized.
A source informed the Sun on Sunday’s Bizarre column, “Rocky is close with Joe and is fully committed to the Tranmere bid. Joe has already attended Tranmere matches, and Rocky plans to join him after the deal is secured. We might even see Rihanna supporting League Two football.”
The source added, “Joe believes Tranmere—a historic club near Liverpool—is undervalued, and with strategic marketing and celebrity backing, he can elevate its profile. With someone like Rocky involved, that could become a reality.”
A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, shares two children with Rihanna: RZA, aged two, and 15-month-old Riot Rose.
