President Bola Tinubu has dismissed five ministers, appointed seven new ones, and restructured several ministerial portfolios to strengthen his administration’s ability to fulfill its promises to Nigerians.

The announcement was made by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.

The dismissed ministers include Barr. Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), and Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education). Others are Abdullahi Gwarzo (State, Housing and Urban Development) and Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Youth Development).

Seven new ministers were appointed, subject to Senate confirmation. These include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Labour and Employment), Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State, Foreign Affairs), and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment).

Additional appointments include Idi Maiha (Livestock Development), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Ata (State, Housing and Urban Development), and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad (State, Education).

In a major restructuring, the Ministry of Niger Delta Development was renamed the Ministry of Regional Development, tasked with overseeing all Regional Development Commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission and others across the country.

The President also dissolved the Ministry of Sports Development, transferring its functions to the National Sports Commission, and merged the Ministries of Tourism and Arts and Culture into the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy.

Ten ministers were reassigned to new roles, including Dr. Yusuf Sununu, now Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, and Dr. Morufu Alausa, who takes over as Minister of Education.

Tinubu urged the newly appointed and reassigned ministers to view their positions as a call to serve, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to setting Nigeria on an irreversible growth path. He thanked the outgoing ministers for their contributions and wished them well in their future endeavors.
