Germany has announced a significant increase in the number of visas available for skilled Indian workers, from 20,000 to 90,000 annually, during Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to New Delhi on Friday.

The move aims to streamline the application process and simplify the recognition of Indian professional qualifications in Germany.

Chancellor Scholz emphasized that this initiative signals Germany’s openness to skilled labor. “The message is that Germany is open for skilled workers,” he stated.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the agreement as mutually beneficial for both nations, highlighting the synergy between India’s dynamism and Germany’s precision in engineering. “When India’s dynamics and Germany’s precision meet… a better future is decided for the Indo-Pacific and the entire world,” Modi remarked.

This announcement builds on a migration agreement signed two years ago, which aimed to enhance the mobility of professionals and students between the two countries.
