Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin announced on Tuesday that Russia has resumed the rotation of its embassy personnel in Denmark, following two significant rounds of expulsions that limited diplomatic presence.
Speaking with Russia’s RIA Novosti, Barbin noted that while the rotation process has restarted, it remains challenging. He highlighted that the embassy’s primary focus is on consular services, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the rights and interests of Russian citizens residing in Denmark.
This development comes after Denmark expelled 15 Russian diplomats in May 2022. A year later, in September 2023, Danish authorities required Russia to further reduce its diplomatic staff to five diplomats and 20 administrative and technical personnel.
