Wike Appoints Olalere Olayinka as Senior Special Assistant for Public Communication and Social Media
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has appointed Olalere Olayinka as Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media. The appointment, announced Friday by the Minister’s Director of Press, Anthony Ogunleye, takes effect immediately.
Ogunleye described Olayinka as a seasoned communications professional with over 20 years of experience in journalism, public relations, and media management across both public and private sectors.
In his new role, Olayinka will be responsible for developing communication strategies to enhance public awareness of government activities and fostering stronger engagement between the FCT Administration and the community.
Before his appointment, Olayinka served as CEO of Our Peoples FM, Ado-Ekiti, since 2018. He also held key positions as Publisher of Wazobia Reporters Online, Special Assistant on Public Communications to the Ekiti State Governor, and Director-General of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State from 2014 to 2018.
Olayinka’s extensive media background includes roles as Media Adviser to the Minister of State for Works in 2018, and as Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Class Magazine from 2003 to 2007. A native of Ekiti, Olayinka is an alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism.
