Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has disclosed that she faced accusations of being involved in the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Speaking on the Glass House podcast hosted by comedian AY, the actress revealed how baseless claims and conspiracy theories surfaced following her public advocacy for justice in the late artist’s case.
Ojo clarified that she barely knew Mohbad, recounting her limited interactions with him during the One Africa Music Fest. “He was a cool boy doing his thing. I wasn’t close to him and wasn’t even in the country when he passed away,” she said.
She also dismissed claims that she was chasing clout or seeking political gain through her activism, asserting that her only intention was to demand justice for Mohbad.
“If I had anything to do with his death, why would I push for his body to be exhumed for an autopsy? People said I was paid or using this for attention, but none of that is true,” she stated.
Ojo emphasized that the accusations against her did not deter her from her mission, as she remained committed to advocating for accountability in Mohbad’s death.
The singer, who tragically passed away in September 2024, has been the subject of widespread calls for justice, with fans and celebrities alike seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
