A 54-year-old German hiker tragically died after falling from a trail in the Austrian Alps near Bludenz, Vorarlberg, local police reported on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday night as the man was hiking with his wife and their dog. At an altitude of approximately 1,350 meters, he lost his footing at a dangerous section of the trail and plunged 150 meters down rocky terrain.
Despite his wife’s immediate efforts to assist and summon a rescue helicopter, the hiker succumbed to his injuries at the scene, authorities confirmed.
