In a significant boost for workers, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the immediate implementation of the N70,000 new national minimum wage for staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Acting Head of Civil Service of the FCT, Grace Adayilo, on Monday. She noted that the approval aims to alleviate the challenges faced by FCTA workers.
Adayilo disclosed that the minister also approved the payment of three months’ arrears for all FCTA staff, effective November 2024.
“This move underscores the minister’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of staff,” Adayilo stated.
She added that the gesture would motivate staff to fully support the minister in delivering on the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Acting Head of Civil Service expressed gratitude to the minister for his consistent promptness in approving payments of staff allowances and claims.
This development highlights Wike’s proactive approach to addressing workers’ welfare in the FCT.
