Adeleke tasks corps members on discipline, commitment to ideals of scheme

Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun has advised the 1,564 corps members deployed to the state for their orientation programme to be disciplined and fully committed to the ideals of the scheme.

Adeleke gave the advice at the National Youth Service Corps Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun, on Friday, during the swearing in of corps members in Batch C Stream 1, who were posted to the state.

The batch to Osun comprise of 738 males and 826 females while 960, who were posted to Lagos State, will  also perform their orientation programme at the NYSC camp in Ede.

The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Affairs,  Mr Moshood Olagunju, said that the state would do all it takes in its capacity to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

He called on the  corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme and be ready to embrace positive change by keeping an open mind.

“Our administration remains committed to creating a safe and conducive environment for you to serve and thrive.

“I assure you of our continued support throughout your service year.

“Your dedication is key to the success of the NYSC’s objectives, and I commend you for your service.”

In his remarks at the ceremony, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Obim, appreciated the state governor for the support and tireless efforts towards the scheme.

He said the orientation programme was the beginning of a transformative journey and the scheme would  remain  a significant asset to national building through youth mobilisation.

Obim also charged corps members to adhere to the rules of the camp and be good ambassador of the scheme.
