As part of his operational tour of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) facilities in Lagos, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, visited Caverton Helicopters’ Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility on December 13, 2024. The visit focused on assessing progress in the 2,500-hour and 5-year inspections of two NAF Bell-412 helicopters (NAF 599 and NAF 600).
Air Marshal Abubakar praised Caverton Helicopters for its advanced facilities and technical expertise, highlighting the nearly operational readiness of NAF 600 and the 70% completion of NAF 599. He underscored the importance of indigenous partnerships in reducing dependence on foreign services, enhancing fleet maintenance, and fostering local capacity in aircrew training and technical expertise. The collaboration, he noted, exemplifies sustainable solutions aligned with the NAF’s vision of operational excellence.
Caverton Helicopters’ CEO, Mr. Olabode Makanjuola, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting NAF operations, citing their success in overhauling critical components as a testament to their capabilities. He emphasized the strategic value of the NAF partnership in strengthening Nigeria’s aviation industry.
