A Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan has disciplined Taiwo Ajala, a 27-year-old man, for urinating in a public place.
Ajala was apprehended on Tuesday after being caught urinating within the court premises. The court’s president, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, imposed an unconventional punishment, instructing Ajala to kneel, face the wall, raise his arms, and close his eyes as a corrective measure for polluting the environment.
Subsequently, Mrs. Akintayo directed the police to process Ajala for arraignment as an offender. The situation took an emotional turn when Ajala broke into tears, pleading for leniency.
“Please forgive me; I didn’t know it was an offence to urinate in a public place,” he said.
In response, Mrs. Akintayo pardoned him and admonished him to avoid such behavior in the future.
