The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) recorded nearly 20,000 flight hours in 2024, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s security interests, according to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.

Abubakar disclosed this on Thursday in his goodwill message to NAF officers and airmen during the Christmas celebration, commending their dedication and resilience in tackling insurgency, banditry, and other security threats.

“The outgoing year presented significant challenges across all operational theaters, but our personnel’s valor and determination enabled us to achieve remarkable successes,” he said.

The CAS lauded NAF’s achievements in improving aircraft serviceability rates and advancing personnel training to build internal expertise. He emphasized that reducing reliance on foreign support and strengthening self-reliance remained top priorities.

“These accomplishments reflect our patriotism and love for Nigeria. I am proud of what we have achieved so far, and we must sustain this momentum into the new year,” Abubakar stated.

Abubakar urged NAF personnel to maintain synergy with sister services and other security agencies, highlighting the importance of collaboration in modern warfare.

“Let us continue strengthening partnerships to ensure a safer and more secure Nigeria. United efforts are crucial for enduring peace and security,” he said.

Looking ahead, the CAS encouraged renewed vigor and unwavering resolve, expressing confidence in NAF’s ability to overcome challenges.

“Together, there is no obstacle we cannot surmount. As we approach the new year, let us remain steadfast in our mission to protect and serve our nation,” he said.

Abubakar extended his best wishes to the NAF family, saying, “On behalf of the NAF leadership and my family, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.”
