Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to attend the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, announced this in a statement on Sunday.

Nkwocha stated that the Vice-President would join global leaders, top executives, and development partners to discuss strategies for improving the global economy.

During the forum, Shettima will participate in several key sessions, including a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the WEF. The session aims to enhance capital flow into Africa’s emerging markets and scale solutions for a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient continent.

Key highlights of the workshop include unveiling the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, which seeks to foster public-private partnerships to mobilize investment in Africa’s frontier markets.

Additionally, Shettima will co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa,” focusing on implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol. He will also serve as a panelist for a stakeholder dialogue on “Global Risks 2025,” providing insights into addressing challenges in a rapidly changing world.

Other scheduled activities include a dinner with heads of state, government officials, and international organizations, as well as the 2025 Crystal Awards of the International Business Council and Strategic Partners.

Shettima will be accompanied by key officials, including Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission.

The Vice-President is expected to return to Abuja following his engagements in Davos.
