A 33-year-old man, Femi Olalekan, was arraigned on Tuesday before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over allegations of land grabbing and theft.

Olalekan, whose residential address was not disclosed, faced charges of conspiracy, land grabbing, stealing, forcible entry, and conduct likely to breach public peace.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Femi Omilana, the offences were committed in 2024 at the Badeku area of Ibadan. Omilana stated that Olalekan forcibly entered a property belonging to Mr. Abideen Oladeji with the intent of seizing the land.

“The defendant also stole palm fruits from the farm and barred Oladeji and his family from accessing the property,” Omilana said. He added that the defendant’s actions were likely to disrupt public order.

The offences, according to Omilana, contravene Sections 516, 81, 390(9), and 249(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Adebola Adeola granted Olalekan bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with two reliable sureties in the same amount. She stipulated that the sureties must be gainfully employed and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to March 11 for hearing.
