AAC Candidate Promises 300,000 Jobs if Elected in Edo
Mr. Udoh Oberaifo, the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate for the Sept. 21 governorship election in Edo, has pledged to create over 300,000 jobs if elected.
In an interview with the newsmen Oberaifo detailed his “Digital Edo” programme, aimed at establishing digital hubs across the state to generate local employment and curb youth migration.
Oberaifo also plans a significant industrial revolution to revitalize industries, expand manufacturing, and enhance technology in Edo. He committed to raising the minimum wage for civil servants to N150,000, arguing that the current N70,000 is insufficient to meet basic needs.
Further, Oberaifo emphasized the importance of effective fiscal and monetary policies to boost the economy and increase the state’s internally generated revenue. His vision includes economic empowerment, MSME growth, climate initiatives, and robust agriculture and food production policies to create jobs and generate revenue.
Criticizing Gov. Godwin Obaseki’s ‘operation feed the hungry’ programme, Oberaifo called for a more comprehensive approach to poverty reduction. He urged Edo youth to support the AAC to transform Edo and Nigeria.
