Actors Guild of Nigeria Reinstates Shirley Igwe After Lifting Suspension
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has lifted the suspension placed on Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe following a formal review of disciplinary actions taken against her over an alleged incident of violent conduct on a Lagos movie set on July 19, 2025.
In a statement signed by the AGN National President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, the National Executive Council (NEC) resolved to reinstate the actress after carrying out a thorough assessment of the case. The decision, according to the Guild, aligns with its constitutional commitment to fair hearing, justice, and the rehabilitation of members.
The AGN confirmed that Igwe has been cleared to resume all filming and guild-related engagements effective October 19, 2025.
While welcoming her back, the NEC advised Igwe to maintain emotional composure, exercise restraint, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, particularly in situations that could escalate into conflict. The Guild noted that it expects renewed discipline and cooperation from the actress as she returns to active involvement within the creative industry.
The AGN added that it looks forward to her positive contributions to the continued growth and integrity of the organisation.
