As the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 enters the semi-final stage, 20 players from the four remaining teams Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, and Egypt are walking a disciplinary tightrope and risk missing the final if they receive another yellow card.
Under the Confederation of African Football (CAF) disciplinary regulations, any player who accumulates two yellow cards during the tournament is automatically suspended for the next match.
CAF rules also stipulate that yellow cards are not reset after the quarter-final stage, meaning cautions picked up earlier in the competition remain valid through the semi-finals.
With places in the final at stake, coaches and players will be forced to balance aggression with caution as any further booking for the affected players could rule them out of the AFCON 2025 final.
