The Libyan national football team, known as the Mediterranean Knights, has landed in Nigeria ahead of their AFCON 2025 qualifier match against the Super Eagles, set to take place on Friday at Uyo Township Stadium.

The team’s arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos was documented in photos shared on social media platform X. From Lagos, they will take a connecting flight to Uyo, where the crucial match will be played.

Meanwhile, all the Super Eagles’ invited players have arrived, with the exception of star striker Victor Osimhen, who is sidelined due to injury.

This match marks the second time the two teams will face off in AFCON qualifiers. Their last encounter was during the 2019 qualifiers, where the Super Eagles triumphed 4-0 in the first leg in Uyo and secured a 3-2 win in the return leg.

Libya’s only victory over Nigeria came in the 2004 LG Invitational Tournament, where they claimed a 2-1 win.
