The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Nigerians to continue to embrace the spirit of patriotism, unity, and national cohesion following the Super Eagles’ victory over Uganda at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The call was made by the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Isa Lanre Onilu, while speaking in Morocco. He commended Nigerians at home and in the diaspora for the overwhelming display of unity, love, and patriotism during the match.

Mallam Onilu observed that the celebrations following the Super Eagles’ victory reflected the true Nigerian spirit—one that transcends ethnic, religious, and cultural differences. He noted that the National Orientation Agency actively supported this patriotic atmosphere by distributing over 5,000 rally flags, 500 T-shirts, and standard Nigerian flags to teeming supporters at the stadium, thereby further promoting national pride and unity among Nigerians in attendance.

He emphasized that such unity should not be limited to sporting events alone but should be sustained in all aspects of national life for the overall development and progress of the country.

According to him, sports remain a powerful unifying force capable of strengthening national identity and fostering peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, irrespective of tribe, religion, or ethnic background.

The Director-General therefore urged citizens to uphold these values of unity, tolerance, and patriotism in their daily interactions, noting that national progress can only be achieved when Nigerians work together as one people with a shared vision.
