Airlines Halt Middle East Flights as US–Israel Strikes Force Airspace Shutdown

Several international airlines across Asia and Europe have suspended flights and cancelled operations following the widespread closure of airspace across parts of the Middle East, amid escalating military tensions in the region.

According to a report by Reuters, flight-tracking data showed near-empty skies over Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Israel and Bahrain, as airlines halted services and rerouted aircraft due to growing security risks.

The disruptions followed coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets, which prompted retaliatory missile attacks by Iran. The escalation triggered sweeping airspace restrictions across the region, forcing aviation authorities and carriers to suspend operations.

Major Gulf aviation hubs were among the worst affected. Operations were temporarily halted at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport, with passengers advised not to travel until further notice.

Leading carriers, including Emirates and flydubai, also announced the temporary suspension of flights to and from Dubai, as regional and international airlines continued to reassess routes and safety protocols in response to the unfolding security situation.

Aviation analysts warn that prolonged instability could cause extended disruptions to global travel routes, cargo movement, and regional connectivity if the crisis persists.
