Akon’s Wife Tomeka Thiam Files for Divorce After 29 Years of Marriage

Tomeka Thiam, wife of Senegalese-American singer Akon, has filed for divorce after nearly three decades of marriage.

According to court documents, Tomeka stated that she married the music star in September 1996 but is now ending the union, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple share a 17-year-old child, and Tomeka is seeking joint legal custody while requesting physical custody. She is also asking for spousal support, while urging the court to block Akon from receiving any support in return.

Although Akon has often remained ambiguous about the number of wives he has had over the years, Tomeka is now making her legal position clear with this filing.

As of now, the singer has not publicly commented on the divorce proceedings.
