An 18-year-old American tourist has been arrested in Paris for allegedly throwing her newborn baby out of a second-floor hotel window, resulting in the infant’s death. The incident occurred on Monday morning at a hotel in the 20th arrondissement.
Authorities reported that the newborn, found with the umbilical cord still attached, was rushed to Robert-Debré hospital but did not survive. The mother, part of a group of young adults traveling through Europe, is currently hospitalized under custody. Investigators are considering the possibility of pregnancy denial, a psychological condition where a woman is unaware of her pregnancy until labor.
The Child Protection Brigade has launched an investigation into the incident, treating it as a homicide of a minor under 15 years old.
