An American tourist, Colleen Monfore, 68, from South Dakota, was found inside a shark’s stomach after being swept out to sea by strong currents during a diving trip around Pulau Reong island in Indonesia.
Monfore was on a dream vacation with friends when the incident occurred on Sept. 26. A fisherman in East Timor caught the shark days later, discovering her remains inside when it was cut open.
Local officials have launched an investigation, with the body recovered in a black wetsuit. East Timor, where the shark was caught, is outside Indonesian territory.
