A U.S. Army veteran was shot in the thigh following a confrontation in a Seattle Safeway parking lot, reportedly sparked by discarded chicken bones. Jesse Grant, a father of three and T-Mobile store manager, had finished eating a “Cheap Chicken Monday” meal with a friend when the incident occurred. Grant acknowledged disposing of chicken bones out of the car window to avoid soiling the vehicle’s interior.

According to the Seattle Police Department, a woman accused Grant of throwing the bones at her vehicle, leading to a heated exchange. The woman allegedly attempted to slash the car’s tires, prompting Grant to intervene and attempt a citizen’s arrest. During the altercation, the woman drew a firearm and shot Grant in the thigh before fleeing the scene with another woman believed to be her partner.

Grant expressed disbelief over the escalation, stating, “I was in the military, I never got shot but I get shot in Safeway over some chicken.” He is currently recovering from his injuries. The suspects remain at large as the investigation continues.

This incident highlights the potential dangers of confrontations over minor disputes and underscores the importance of de-escalation in heated situations.
