Nigerian football star Asisat Oshoala is close to completing a move to Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Hilal, according to reports from The Athletic.

The 30-year-old Super Falcons forward is expected to be unveiled soon after Al-Hilal reached an agreement with U.S.-based Bay FC over her transfer. Oshoala reportedly arrived in Riyadh on Monday and successfully completed her medicals.

This marks another major move for the six-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, who only joined Bay FC in February 2024. During her brief stint in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), she scored on her debut in a 1–0 win over Angel City and featured in her final match—a 3–2 loss to Washington Spirit—last weekend.

Oshoala previously enjoyed a highly successful spell with FC Barcelona Femeni, where she won multiple league titles and lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy.

Her move to Saudi Arabia highlights the growing appeal of the Saudi Women’s Premier League, which continues to attract top international talent. She joins a growing list of Super Falcons stars now playing in the country, including Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega (Al-Ittihad), Rita Chikwelu (Al-Riyadh), and Chinonyerem Macleans (Al-Shabab).

Oshoala’s arrival is expected to significantly boost the visibility of women’s football in Saudi Arabia and further cement her legacy as one of Africa’s most successful female athletes.

An official announcement from Al-Hilal is expected in the coming days.
