A deadly attack occurred at Turkish Aerospace Industries’ headquarters near Ankara on October 23, resulting in multiple casualties, according to government officials.
Footage aired on local broadcasters showed armed assailants entering the facility, followed by reports of gunfire and an explosion.
“Terrorists attacked the Tusas facilities in Kahramankazan, Ankara. Sadly, there are martyrs and injured,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated via social media platform X, referring to the aerospace company.
While the exact cause and perpetrators remain unknown, some reports suggested a suicide attack, with unconfirmed claims of hostages inside the building. Authorities have yet to verify these details.
Witnesses reported to Reuters that employees were escorted to shelters, and exits were blocked following potential bombings as staff left work. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and local media showed images of damaged infrastructure and a gunfight in the parking lot. The attackers were seen carrying rifles and backpacks.
Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the incident. Tusas, a key player in Turkey’s defense sector, employs over 10,000 people and produces the country’s first national combat aircraft, Kaan.
