Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Monday administered the oath of office to retired Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services.
The swearing-in ceremony took place during the 28th Kano State Executive Council meeting held at Kwankwasiyya City.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Umaru’s appointment was based on merit and his demonstrated competence in managing complex security operations.
“Umaru’s expertise in critical security roles and his distinguished military career make him ideal to lead our internal security efforts,” Governor Yusuf stated.
He urged the new commissioner to bring his wealth of experience to bear in addressing the current security challenges facing the state.
“I expect him to work tirelessly to keep Kano safe and prosperous for all citizens,” he added.
Before his new role, Umaru served as Director-General of the Special Services Directorate at the Kano State Government House.
