AY and Basketmouth End 18-Year Feud with Joint Comedy Skit
Nigerian comedy icons AY Makun and Basketmouth have officially reconciled after nearly two decades of animosity. The two comedians, whose fallout dates back 18 years, surprised fans on Wednesday by releasing a skit together on Instagram to promote their respective new movies.
In the video, Basketmouth sought advice from AY following a conversation with veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD). This marks their first collaboration since 2006, the year their feud began.
The longstanding rift reportedly started over a financial dispute. AY, in a March 2023 interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, revealed that early in his career, Basketmouth had asked him to fill in at a comedy show. After the performance, AY claimed Basketmouth kept the N30,000 fee paid by the event organisers.
Although Basketmouth had previously declined to address the allegation, stating he preferred not to speak about the matter, it appears both comedians have now moved on, signaling the end of their long-standing feud.
