Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has denied reports suggesting he is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Badaru described the claims circulating on social media as false, baseless and driven by political mischief. He said the reports were deliberately crafted to score political points and mislead the public.

The former minister stressed that he remains fully committed to the APC, noting that he is a founding member of the party and that his loyalty to it is “total and unwavering.”

“I have no intention of leaving the APC,” Badaru said, urging party supporters and members of the public to disregard what he described as misleading speculation.

Rumours of a possible defection had gained traction online amid ongoing political rivalry between supporters of Badaru and loyalists of Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, with both camps accusing each other of anti-party activities.

Badaru, however, reiterated that he remains a dedicated member of the APC and has no plans to join any opposition party.
